As with many people, I was able to answer “yes” to all of those questions. So, several years ago, I decided it was time to get a personal trainer to help guide me and motivate me to work out.
I used to travel a lot for work and did several extended assignments away from my home in Chicago. It was hard to stay on a regular exercise schedule, and even harder to stick with a trainer. Plus, it was getting expensive, and I kept bouncing from trainer to trainer to find one that I really liked.
Then, a couple years ago, I was sent to Miami on a 6-month work assignment. The first day I arrived, I found a personal trainer that I ended up working with during the entire time I was there. He was the best trainer that I had ever worked with… he listened to me when I told him my fitness goals and helped me achieve them, we never did the same workout twice, and he kept me motivated to keep up the hard work to get visible results.
As my time in Miami drew to a close and I was getting ready to move back to Chicago, I was in a panic. What was I going to do now? I had never had a trainer this good in Chicago. I wished there was a way that I could take him back with me.
I was working for a technology company at the time, and it got me thinking… maybe there was a way to take him back with me… virtually…
Plus, I realized that there were even more benefits than just keeping a trainer I liked. I had a hectic schedule and a long commute, so I always found it hard to make it in time for an appointment at the gym. And, I was up to training three times a week… which can get very expensive fast… especially when you have a mortgage, new car payment, and like to go out and have fun with your friends from time to time. I realized that with a virtual trainer, I could work out anytime, anywhere AND for a lot less money!
This is how the idea for inerTRAIN came to be. Trainers and clients will no longer be limited to a small geographic area, and the workouts will no longer be limited to the four walls of a gym or training studio. Thanks to the advancements in technology that we’ve all experienced in our lifetimes, you can now take your trainer with you anywhere you go and work out anytime you want…
